2022 CORINTH SPECIAL ELECTION GUIDE
CORINTH, TX, April 1, 2022- It's time to cast your vote! Corinth City Hall will be hosting early and election day voting for the 2022 City of Corinth General and Special Election. With election day quickly approaching, this guide is designed to help voters successfully navigate the elections process, from registering to vote to explaining the election ballots for the City of Corinth.
What is on the ballot?
Special Election: A Special Election will also be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 for voters to consider propositions to make changes to the Corinth Home Rule Charter, related to the election regulations for Mayor and City Council positions.
Proposed Modification 1
"Change the term of a council member from two years to three years with two council being elected every year rather than three. Currently, the mayor, place 2 and place 5 are elected in odd years and places 1, 3, and 4 are elected in even years. The charter change would include a transition provision from two year terms to three year terms by place.”
Proposed Modification 2
"That the position of mayor-protem be formally established in the charter, with the appointment pursuant to the council policy (and currently by the mayor).
When is early voting?
Visit VoteDenton.com for a full list of early voting locations, dates, and times. Denton County residents are eligible to vote at any Denton County voting location during early voting. Early voting at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway, will be held during the following dates & times:
· Monday, April 25 - Saturday, April 30, from 8am - 5pm
· Sunday, May 1, from 11am - 5pm
· Monday and Tuesday, May 2-3, from 7am - 7pm
Where can I vote on Election Day?
Election day is Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting locations on election day are by precinct. Precincts 2071, 2072, 2073, 3160 will be able to vote at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway on election day. Don't know your precinct number? How do I know if I'm registered to vote?
The last day to register to vote for the upcoming General and Special elections is April 7, 2022. Texas does not allow voter registration on the day of the election. Don't know if you're registered?
Please check the Texas Secretary of State website. All you'll need to do is enter your full name, birthdate and zip code, and the county you live in.
What form of ID do I need to bring to the polls?
Voters must present one of the acceptable forms of photo ID as required by State law. These include the following:
1. Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
2. Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
3. Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
4. Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
5. United States Military Identification Card containing the person's photograph
6. United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person's photograph
7. United States Passport
If you cannot present one of the acceptable forms of identification, you may submit a supporting form of ID and complete a "Reasonable Impediment Declaration." For more information on Voter ID requirements, review the requirements provided by the Texas Department of State.
