Water My Yard
The City of Corinth has partnered with the Upper Trinity Regional Water District to promote a ‘Water My Yard’ conservation initiative. This program is in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for residents in the Denton County area. ‘Water My Yard’ is a free and simple internet-based tool that enables residents to use actual real-time information in determining how much and how long to water their landscape on a weekly basis.
‘Water My Yard’ uses data collected from local weather stations, along with the customer’s irrigation system specifications, to recommend to residents how much water is needed on their landscape. Watering recommendations are provided in minutes, making it easy for residents to adjust their irrigation system as needed and maximize water efficiency.
Residents are encouraged to use this science-based program to help alleviate the problem of overwatering. It is recommended that landscapes be watered no more than two times per week and then only when needed. By following these guidelines, customers will save both water and money.
Visit the ‘Water My Yard’ website to sign up for weekly e-mails and text messages. You can also download the ‘Water My Yard’ app to receive watering recommendations every week! The app is available for free on the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Residents may also visit the Upper Trinity Regional Water District website for additional conservation resources.
