CORINTH POLICE CHIEF JERRY GARNER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

CORINTH, TX, September 12, 2024 – The City of Corinth is proud to announce the retirement of Police Chief Jerry Garner, who is stepping down after five and a half years of dedicated and exemplary service to our community. Chief Garner’s unwavering commitment, leadership, and dedication have significantly impacted the safety and well-being of the City of Corinth.

To honor Chief Garner’s remarkable career and to celebrate his contributions to the Corinth Police Department and the community at large, a special retirement tribute will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. at the Corinth Police Department, located at 3501 FM 2181, Suite A, Corinth, TX 76210.

The celebration will provide an opportunity for community members, colleagues, and friends to express their gratitude and appreciation for Chief Garner’s service. We invite everyone to join us in this memorable event as we recognize Chief Garner’s achievements and bid him a fond farewell.

Chief Garner, who has dedicated 54 years to law enforcement, has led the Corinth Police Department since March 4, 2019. His career began in 1969 with the Victoria and San Marcos Police Departments in Texas. In 1973, he joined the Lakewood Police Department and spent the majority of his career in Colorado, including serving as Chief of the Fort Lupton Police Department and then the Greeley Police Department for about 12 years.

Chief Garner, a Master Peace Officer with a master’s degree in administration of justice, is a recognized expert in law enforcement leadership. He has taught extensively and lectured at prestigious institutions such as the FBI National Academy, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas. Garner has also authored 14 books and over 200 articles on policing topics.

Chief Garner has been a cornerstone of our community policing efforts, guiding the department through numerous challenges and accomplishments. His legacy will be felt for years to come, and his impact on the City of Corinth will not be forgotten. We look forward to celebrating Chief Garner’s distinguished career and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
