CORINTH ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF
CORINTH, TX, January 2, 2025 – The Lake Cities Fire Department announced the appointment of Scott Funderburg as the new Assistant Fire Chief for the Lake Cities Fire Department. Bringing more than 30 years of public safety experience, Funderburg will officially step into the role on January 6, 2025.
Funderburg, previously a Battalion Chief in Flower Mound, has a distinguished career in fire service leadership. His expertise includes managing daily operations, staffing, incident command, and developing training programs and operational guidelines. Known for fostering strong relationships with personnel and the community, Funderburg is recognized for his commitment to operational excellence, innovative problem-solving, and public safety.

"With his extensive experience and dedication to public safety, we are confident that he will play a key role in leading our department to continue delivering exceptional service to the community. Funderburg holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University. He is also certified as a Certified Fire Executive by the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy and as a Fire Service Chief Executive Officer by Texas A&M University.

Funderburg’s appointment follows the retirement of Gregory Ward, who served as the Lake Cities Fire Department’s Assistant Fire Chief for over 26 years.
