Corinth, TX, June 30, 2020 -  City Officials announced the transition back to Level Orange on the COVID-19 Readiness Response Plan on Monday, June 29, slowing down the reopening of city operations.

In March, City Manager Bob Hart revealed a color-coded, four-level scale meant to inform the public of the coronavirus threat in the City and measures being taken by city officials amid these uncertain times. Level 4, which is Green, means city operations can resume normal activities. Level 1, which is red, would close City Hall to the public and transition to online city services. The move to Level 3, which is orange, signifies the uncontrolled level of coronavirus in the county and the need to minimize person-to-person contact.

“We are very concerned with the current trends that we see in regards to the Coronavirus,” stated Bob Hart City Manager.  “These trends are accelerating daily in Corinth and surrounding communities. The move to Level Orange is to protect our ability to continue providing city services. ”

What does the move to Level Orange mean to our residents?

  • City facilities remain open to the public Monday – Thursday, and Friday by appointment only.
  • City officials encourage the use of online city services to limit person-to-person exposure. Many services, including permits, business license applications, payment of water bills, court fines, and the submittal of concerns, can be performed on the City Hall On-Demand website.
  • Public meetings, gatherings, and events will be suspended or canceled based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Governmental Declarations.
  • City Council and Board meetings will hold virtual meetings consistent with the Open Meetings Act.
  • Municipal Court will provide virtual court dockets following guidelines established by the Office of Court Administration.
  • City sports facilities will remain open for use by the public and local sports leagues. The sports leagues may make their determinations on continuing games and practices. Additionally, all playgrounds and city parks will remain open.  The status of athletic fields, parks, and playgrounds is subject to change should the spread of the virus continue accelerating at the current trends.

City Officials further encourage all public places of business to adhere to recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Governmental Declarations limiting person-to-person exposure. The most updated COVID-19 recommendations for healthy individuals include: Practicing hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette regularly; Maintaining physical distance when around others; Utilizing masks or face coverings when around others; and Staying home if you are sick or have recently had close contact to a person with COVID-19.
